As we prepare for the upcoming 2015 high school season, we will be taking a preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

Team: Martinsburg
Nickname: Bulldogs
Class: 3A
League: Independent
Head Coach: Greg Lambert
2014 Overall Record: 7-17 (Lost in section semifinals)

TOP PLAYERS:
Grant Bates, IF/RHP, Class of 2015 (University of Charleston commit)
Blake Stump, IF/RHP, Class of 2015 (University of Charleston commit)
Jake Reynolds, 1B, Class of 2015
Cody Bonnett, IF/RHP, Class of 2016
Jacob Sansom, OF/RHP, Class of 2016

Others to watch:
Sophomores: Dakota Bird, Cody Roach, Cody Elkins

SEASON OUTLOOK:
The Panthers return the bulk of their roster from 2014 following a playoff loss to eventual 3A State Champs Hurricane. Right-handed pitchers Grant Bates and Blake Stump, a pair of University of Charleston commits, will be relied upon heavily to support what should be a capable offensive lineup.

According to the Coach:
"We are cautiously optimistic this coming season. We have 18 returning players and for the first time, primarily a veteran team. We should be solid on defense and very strong at the plate. If our pitching comes through, we have a chance for a very good season."
