Over the coming months, Prep Baseball Report Virginia/DC will take a look back at the 2015 season for each school that finished the spring in the final 2015 Power 25. In each article, we will not only recap the successful seasons of these 40 schools, but highlight the individuals who drove that success and preview what the outlook is for each team in 2016.

6. st. john's cadets

 

Season Recap:
St. John’s finished the season with a 25-6 overall record and won the WCAC Regular Season going away and also captured the WCAC Tournament Championship by winning the final two games of the best of three Championship Series in dominant fashion over DeMatha.

Key Performers:

AJ Lee: (RHP/MIF, 2015, Maryland) Lee was named a Louisville Slugger All-American and the Washington Post’s All-Met Player of the Year. He anchored the middle of the Cadet lineup and hit .388 while driving in 22 runs and also swiping 16 bags.

Cam Remalia: (RHP/3B, 2016, Coastal Carolina): Remalia was named Second Team All-WCAC and hit .297 while driving in 19 runs and playing a solid defensive third base. He also contributed on the mound, going 4-1 with a 1.25 ERA.

Brett Simon: (C, 2015, LaSalle) Simon was named to the All-Met Team and was also Second Team All-WCAC. Simon drove in 19 runs and hit .297 for the season.

Josh Simon: (C, 2016, VCU) Simon was named to the Second Team All-WCAC and hit .295 while driving in 26 runs.

Jacob Steinberg: (RHP/MIF, 2018) The youngster had a strong freshman season on the mound, going 3-1 while compiling a 0.98 ERA.

Brian Tagoe: (OF/P, 2015, LaSalle) Tagoe was named to the All-Met team and was also First Team All-WCAC. He hit .337 while driving in 16 runs and stealing 16 bases. Tagoe also contributed in a big way on the mound, going 7-0 with three complete games while pitching to a 0.43 ERA in 49 innings of work and striking out 58 batters.

2016 Outlook:
St. John’s will look to win their third straight WCAC Championship in 2016 and they will have a strong squad despite the graduation of Lee, Brett Simon, and Tagoe. The Cadets return five starting position players, highlighted by Remalia and Josh Simon as well as over half of their innings from 2015. Look for Remalia to continue to be a big factor on the mound and for Steinberg to step into a bigger role as he continues to develop.
