2014 Team Preview: Wheeling Park HS

As we prepare for the upcoming 2014 high school season, we will be taking a preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

Class: 3A
League: OVAC & TRAC
Head Coach: Mike McLeod
2013 Overall Record: 24-6 (Lost in regional finals)

TOP PLAYERS:

Michael Grove, RHP/SS, Class of 2015 (Honorable Mention All-State 2013)
Justice Jackson, LHP/OF, Class of 2014 (Honorable Mention All-State 2013)

SEASON OUTLOOK:  

The Patriots return a lot from last year's 24-6 squad, but will have to replace Andrew Kowalo (1st Team All-State, Potomac State College) and Trevor Stewart (West Liberty University). Two underclassmen that will be asked to help pick up the slack are RHP Phillip Bledsoe (2016) and RHP/C Daniel Baciak.

ACCORDING TO THE COACH:

We will be led by a strong Senior Class. We will have two senior pitchers that will be going on to play college baseball, a junior phenom (P/SS) and a sophomore pitcher that won our sectional final game as a freshman. We will have a mix of very talented athletes that can run like deer and a catcher that can slow down an opponent's running game. This years team I believe is a mirror image of last years'. We lost our best player who went off to college but we have been grooming our Michael Grove to take his place. We have big exceptions this year.
