As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK:

The Homestead Spartans and Head Coach Steve Sotir are coming off a successful 2013 season in which they won a sectional championship and were within one run of a Semi-State appearance.  The Spartans return five positional starters and three arms this season led by seniors and Parkland CC commits Tyler Zimske and Joe Ault.  Zimske, a 6-foot-1, 195 pound C/OF, hit .301 last spring with 3 2B, 2 3B, 1 HR 16 RBI and 8 stolen bases. RHP/3B Joe Ault was 4-4 on the mound in 2013 with 55 K's in 42 IP. Offensively Ault hit .364 with 6 2B and 13 RBI. Sophomore catcher Brady Sheehan returns after hitting .283 with 10 RBI as a freshman. RHP McLean Trieglaff will play a key role in the pitching rotation after going 2-2 last spring with 2 saves.  The righty struck out 35 batters in 39.33 IP.  Senior Kyle Mohsenzadeh returns to the OF this spring.  As a Junior Mohsenzadeh batted .333 with 6 2B, 19 RBI and 14 stolen bases. Junior RHP D.J. Moore will add to the pitching rotation this spring.  As a sophomore Moore was 2-0 with a 3.94 ERA in 16 IP.
