PBR: Why did you choose Bowling Green?
Fitzwater: I choose BG because I like the campus, they are getting a lot of new things lately and it looks nice. Also, I like the coaches and the players that are part of the team. I’ve played against a few of them and they are very competitive which is what I want from a teammate.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Fitzwater: Marietta and Heidelberg

PBR: What were your expectations about recruiting heading into the summer?
Fitzwater: I really didn’t know what to expect or what was going happen. I’m just glad that it worked out this way for me.

PBR:  Bowling Green is very close to home; did location play a major role in your college decision?
Fitzwater: Location played a huge role, I had taken a trip to a college four hours away and that felt too far for me. Also, it’s close enough my parents and other family members can come watch and support me.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus at BG?
Fitzwater:  They expect me to come in and contribute right away.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help as a Falcon?
Fitzwater: My biggest strength is being able to hit spots when I’m pitching. I don’t throw the hardest so if I’m going to get outs I have to hit my spots. That will help me as a Falcon because it’s the next level of baseball, everybody can hit so it’ll be even more important to hit my spots then. Also my mental attitude, I don’t get upset when things aren’t going my way, I can’t change the past but I can do something for the future. That’s something every pitcher has to understand, let the past go and worry about the future.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Fitzwater: I play for my high school acme team. My most memorable experience was striking out sixteen Tinora batters. Hopefully I can make more playing for the Napoleon River Bandits next summer.

PBR:  Now that you are a Senior, how will your leadership role change this spring?  What are your team and individual expectations?
Fitzwater: My teammates will be looking up to me to perform well, so that we have the best chance of going somewhere in playoffs. Also helping the younger players learn what our team philosophy is, and setting a good example on and off the field for all our players. I expect us to be well over 500 on the season, we can beat every team on our schedule, and it just comes down to how hard we want to work for it and how much we want it.
