Josh Baker is part of a Notre Dame HS roster that does not lose a single player to graduation following a run to the Class A state semifinals in 2013. The promising Class of 2016 1B/LHP showed solid footwork and a capable glove around the bag at first base during Notre Dame's state semifinal game against eventual state runners-up Magnolia, but it was his ability to swing the bat that stood out.
The 5-foot-8, 200-pound left-handed hitter showcased a square stance and a high hands load to a very balanced swing. He displayed a flat bat path through the hitting zone and the ability to barrel the baseball consistently. Baker went 2-for-3 against Magnolia with two doubles and an RBI. Baker's approach at the plate and fluid swing mechanics make him an early prospect to watch in the Class of 2016.
