PBR: What schools were you considering?
Pence: Missouri, Louisville, Western Kentucky, and Morehead State
PBR: Why did you choose Morehead State?
Pence: I can pitch and hit there and I wanted to play in the south. The coaching staff made me feel comfortable and they want to help me become a better player.
PBR: What was your experience like at the Area Code Games?
Pence: Area Code was the best experience in baseball that I have had to this point of my career. Playing and competing against the best players in the nation, having MLB Scouts for coaches and playing in Long Beach, CA was a great experience, and was also humbling at times.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play during your first year on campus?
Pence: The Coaches at Morehead State expect me to come in and hit in the middle of the lineup and pitch some during the week games.
PBR: What were your expectations on recruiting heading into the summer?
Pence: I learned a lot about the rules coaches have to go by when recruiting; e-mails, phone calls, visits, etc.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Morehead State?
Pence: I am always trying to get better. I like weight training and practice of all types including hitting, throwing, running etc.
PBR: How has travel baseball helped your development as a player?
Pence: I have played travel baseball with the Indiana Bandits (Greenfield) and the Lids Indiana Bulls for 10 years total. The competition from Florida, California, Texas, and locally has helped me see there are a lot of great baseball players in my age group. I learned that those who love baseball and work hard come out on top.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Pence: My Father.
PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Greenfield-Central?
Pence: .440 BA, 12 HR, All- County/Conference, Team MVP, All-State Honorable Mention 1st Base (4A)
