Championship day was capped off in style on this scorching hot Sunday. The Rochester Cougars beat Grow2Pro 6-1 in the 8 a.m. semi-final, and the Penfield Crimson Pride ousted Diamond Pro by a 6-1 score as well. The championship game was a nail biter, needing extra innings to decide the winner. The two teams were playing close the whole game, until the Rochester Cougars took a 2-run lead in the top of the 7th inning. The 7-5 lead didn't last long, as the Crimson Pride came roaring back to tie the game in the bottom of the inning. The Cougars tacked on 2 more runs in the top of the 8th frame, but yet again couldn't hang on in the bottom of the inning. Instead of only tying the game this time around, the Crimson Pride were able to push a third run across with a walk-off single by Matt Karpen to win the 2017 13u Futures Invitational by a score of 10-9. Thank you to all the teams that were in attendance, we had a great weekend of ball games! Scores from today's games are posted below.
