13U Earns the No. 1 Seed after Two Wins on Day One

Game 1 VS Kentucky
Team Florida came out the gate swinging early and often in game 1 of the 2020 JR Futures Games. The 13U squad plated 4 runs in the 2nd inning and 6 in the 4th to run-rule Team Kentucky 10-1 in 5 innings. Rivers Kurland, Ayden Phillips, and Aidyn Rattray combined to go 5 innings, 4 hits, 1 run, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts on the mound. Led by JaMarques Benton (2-3, 2-run 3B), Dayson Griffis (2-2, BB, RBI), Skyler Jersey (1-3, 3B, 2 RBI), and Gabe Gonzalez (2-2, RBI), Team Florida racked up 12 hits and 3 extra-base hits offensively to set the tone in the first game of pool play.
Game 2 VS Missouri/Kansas
Team Florida stayed hot against the Missouri/Kansas boys with a 6-2 victory in convincing fashion. The bats were working early again as the 13U boys jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the 3rd on the heels of Ayden Phillips and Rivers Kurland’s RBI singles. Gabe Gonzalez and Jacob Kendall provided insurance with RBI doubles of their own. On the mound, Brennan Confreda Skyler Jersey, Cam Uzzillia, Dayson Griffis, and Cooper Moss all contributed to the win and collectively compiled a line of: 7 inn 7 hits 2 runs 4 walks and 8 strikeouts.
Team Florida 13U earned themselves the No. 1 seed in the Gold Bracket and will play today at 3:45 and 6 PM.
