11th Ranked prospect in 2012 class commits

Taylor Lehnert is a 6-foot-4 inch, 210 pound RHP/1B from Lake Central HS.  During the summer, he plays for the Indiana Bulls organization.  At a PBR showcase this past winter Lehnert showed the ability to throw four pitches for a strike; a fastball (84-85 mph), curve (69-70 mph), slider (68-72 mph), and a changeup (74-75 mph).

PBR Indiana recently had the opportunity to sit down with the righty and ask him about his decision to play collegiate baseball at Central Michigan University.

PBR: What schools were you considering?

Lehnert: The final two I was narrowed down to was Central Michigan and Indiana

PBR: Why did you choose Central Michigan?

Lehnert: I loved the campus, coaches, and everything their program/university had to offer.

PBR: Was it important to stay close home/travel ?

Lehnert: It wasn't the biggest thing on my list, but now that it has happened I'm happy my family and friends are within distance to come see me pitch.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Lehnert: They expect me to go in and be a big part of the program when I arrive.

PBR: What were your expectations about recruiting heading into the summer?

Lehnert: I wasn't really sure on what was going to happen, but I knew with playing with the Indiana Bulls that I would be in front of a ton of great colleges.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Central Michigan?

Lehnert: One of my biggest strengths is being a leader and not being afraid to attack hitters. I will help Central Michigan out in anyway possible as soon as possible

PBR: How has travel baseball helped your development as a player?

Lehnert: It has helped me out a lot. While being with the Bulls you are playing with some of the top kids in the state and against the best in the country

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Lehnert: My parents and coaches. I couldn't thank them enough.

PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Lake Central?

Lehnert: At Lake Central High School my record was 4-2 with 2 saves and a 2.85 ERA

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher/hitter that you have faced in Indiana?

Lehnert: Toughest hitter I faced this year would be Tony Cheky from Portage HS.
