In analyzing the group as a whole, a substantive collection of ultra-talented left-side infielders jumps off the page. These premium position players are well-equipped with big bats and loud tools across the board, and are sure to drive considerable value from teams as the ‘25 class appears set to dwarf its predecessor. Eight of the top-10 players in the class carry left-side distinction along with one pitcher (RHP) and an outfielder. It is a near certainty that a slew of electric arms are sure to drive up the list after the summer, but for the time being, position players lead the charge.
Below, a breakdown of the Top 10 with each players potential future claim to the No. 1 spot:
PATHS TO NO. 1
Ethan Holliday SS / Stillwater, OK / 2025Rankings: State: #1| Overall: #1
A mainstay at the top of the class, Holliday’s floor and ceiling are set quite high, and his 6-foot-4, 200-pound frame provides the look of an ultra run-producer in the making. The simplicity of the stroke combined with the smoothness of the operation induces eye-opening results with hardly any effort. The hands flow into a natural power position before easy lag and flick present a real hit-tool that pair and perhaps outpaces the premium power potential. Gifted with soft hands on the dirt, there is no reason to believe that he will not start off at shortstop professionally although a plus-defender at third base would be a “fall back plan”. Although the comparisons with brother, Jackson Holliday, are sure to be raised by some mainstream media personnel, the two hold much different profiles, yet similar impactful upsides. Regardless of which prospects the scouting community ultimately decides to impart comparisons to, the fact remains that this Holliday is sure to generate significant buzz over the next year. |
