Western PA Top Prospect Games Spotlight: 2020 SS Casey Caufield

The Western PA Top Prospect Games annually showcases roughly 70 top uncommitted prospects across the state and from a few surrounding states. 2019 marks the 8th year for this event with hundreds of former participants having gone on to college commitments and to professional baseball.
As we draw closer to June we will be periodically highlighting some of the prospects scheduled to participate. Today we begin our preview with a look at 2020 SS Casey Caufeild. The left-handed hitter is off to a strong start hitting .343 to this part in his junior season.

Scouting Report
1.26.19 - 5-foot-10, 155-pound left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Hands work very well through contact. Barreled everything in a solid round of batting practice while showing an ability to line baseballs to all fields. Registered a bat exit velocity of 82 mph and ran a 6.92 60-yard dash. Showcased active feet and the ability to play through the baseball defensively with 81 mph arm strength across the diamond. Projects at second base at the the next level with a short throwing motion and current size.
1.28.18 - 5-foot-7, 140-pound left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with an abbreviated leg-hang stride. Displayed good rhythm with and advanced feel for the barrel during a solid round of batting practice. Showed an ability to barrel the baseball consistently to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. Ran a 7.17 60-yard dash and showcased athletic defensive actions with a quick release. Plays through the baseball consistently with a soft glove hand and active feet. 73 mph arm strength will continue to improve through physical maturity.
