Western PA Game of the Day: North Allegheny at Seneca Valley
April 12, 2018
north Allegheny 1, seneca valley 0
In a WPIAL 6A - Section One rivalry matchup, the Tigers were able to outlast the Raiders in a classic pitchers duel on Wednesday.
North Allegheny starter Benjamin Peschke and Seneca Valley stater Cory Greiner were masterful in quieting the opposition's offense. Peschke was able to command the zone and pitch to contact in a 67 pitch, five inning outing. Greiner effectively changed speeds and induced some key, timely ground balls in his seven innings. Slippery Rock recruit, Colin Cain (above left) completed the shutout for North Allegheny by featuring a power fastball and sharp slider in his two innings of work.
North Allegheny pushed across the winning run in the top of the seventh when Seton Hill recruit Caiden Wood drew a leadoff walk and moved to second on a single by Juliano Capretta. John Carrol commit Ben Surman (above right) then plated Wood with a clutch, line drive single to left.
There were no multi hit games on either side.
