Unsigned Senior Spotlight: RHP Mike YaSenka

Pitchers develop at different rates and Franklin Area right-hander Mike YaSenka appears to be one of those proverbial "late bloomers". The 6-foot-2, 180-pound uncommitted senior has added three inches and fifteen pounds to his frame in the past year. Along with that has come added velocity.
YaSenka sat 83-85 while touching 87 mph from a high 3/4 arm slot in September at the Western PA Fall Review. While he struggled with fastball command at times, the pitch showed significant arm-side run and YaSenka diisplayed the willingness to work inside on right-handed hitters. He also showcased a 75 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation thrown with good arm speed.
An athletic, projectable frame and quick arm make YaSenka one of top unsigned senior arms still available in Pennsylvania. Currently ranked No. 93 in the Class of 2016, YaSenka is one of just nine right-handed pitchers that remain uncommitted among the top 100.
