Underclass Games Analysis: Blue Team

The Blue Team sported the youngest roster of four teams to participate during the PA Underclass Games July 29 & 30 at Misericordia University. Following is an analysis of the prospects that participated as members of the Blue Team.
LHP/1B Austin Baker, Governor Mifflin HS, Class of 2017
Baker is a solidly built, 5-foot-11, 180-pound prospect that has yet to play an inning of high school baseball. He sat 71-73 with some arm side run to his fastball and commanded a 64-66 mph curveball. Baker throws strikes and stays down in the zone. He showcased a short, line drive stroke at the plate with a bat exit velocity of 79 mph. He went 1-for-4 at the plate in game action on day two of the event.
2B/SS Ben Decembrino, Holy Ghost Prep, Class of 2015
Decembrino is a fundamentally sound MIF that showcased soft hands and the ability to play through the baseball with throws of 69 mph across the diamond. He utilized a square stance and a toe tap trigger to produce line drives to all fields during batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 69 mph. Decembrino went 2-for-7 at the plate with a run scored in game action during the two day event.
2B/RHP Mitch Donatelli, Gateway HS, Class of 2016
Donatelli is a 5-foot-8, 140-pound prospect that showcased a square stance, a line drive swing and the ability to utilize all fields during his round of batting practice. The right-handed hitter went on to go 2-for-6 at the plate during the course of the two day event. Donatelli showed promise as a player and should continue to develop as his frame continues to mature.
C/OF Mason McKinley, Garden Spot HS, Class of 2016
McKinley is a 5-foot-7, 145-pound prospect that showcased pop times of 2.19-2.32 on throws of 66 mph from the crouch. He displayed the ability to barrel most baseballs during his round of batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 74 mph. McKinley utilized a square stance with no stride and a flat bat path to line baseballs to all fields consistently.
OF Franklin Ramirez, Berks Catholic HS, Class of 2015
Ramirez was one of the more interesting prospects at the event. He showed athletic actions and a solid arm from the outfield on throws of 81 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter utilized a slightly open stance and a leg lift stride foot to produce good barrel whip and a bat exit velocity of 87 mph. Ramirez went 1-for-6 at the plate over the course of the event, but showed the ability to barrel the baseball consistently and the potential to be a quality hitter at the next level.
SS Aden Tully, Council Rock North HS, Class of 2014
Tully was impressive in all facets of the game, greatly improving his stock in the Class of 2014 recruiting class. The 5-foot-8, 165-pound middle infielder showcased a 74 mph infield arm with quick feet, a clean transition and the ability to throw from several arm angles. Tully displayed an 84 mph bat exit velocity and went 5-for-5 at the plate over the course of two days. The uncommitted senior earned MVP honors for the Blue Team.
1B/OF Kevin Barron, Hatboro-Horsham HS, Class of 2015
Barron showcased legitimate power potential out of a slightly open stance with solid extension to his swing. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound right-handed hitter showcased an 88 mph bat exit velocity and went 3-for-6 with a double in game action during the course of the two day event. Barron also displayed solid footwork and a soft glove hand at 1B with throws of 81 mph across the diamond.
RHP/OF Tyler Bonner, Avon Grove HS, Class of 2015
Bonner is a solidly built, 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect that sat 74-76 on the mound with an 11/5 breaking 66 mph curveball. The right-handed hitter utilized a square stance and a flat bat path to produce a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. Bonner went 2-for-6 at the plate in game action and showcased an 81 mph throwing arm from the outfield.
RHP Brent Greeley, Malvern Prep, Class of 2016
Greeley is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound prospect that appears to have a big upside. Greeley sat 78-80 from a high 3/4 arm slot during his three innings of work. He currently has a bit of a short arm action to his delivery that could be adjusted easily. He showcased good rhythm and balance to his delivery and the potential for significant spikes in his velocity. Greeley will be a definite high follow in this class.
RHP/3B Josh Shultz, New Oxford HS, Class of 2016
Shultz is a 5-foot-10, 185-pound broad-shouldered prospect with an idea of how to pitch. The right-hander sat 76-77 with some arm side run to his fastball and commanded a quality 66 mph changeup thrown at near fastball arm speed. Shultz went 1-for-3 at the plate in game action on day one of the event and showcased an 80 mph bat exit velocity.
RHP/3B Spencer Tinkel, New-Hope Solebury HS, Class of 2015
Tinkel emerged as a quality arm in this class with a stellar performance on the mound. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound righty sat 83-85 with late run and sink to his fastball. Tinkel also commanded a 75 mph slider and a 76 mph changeup thrown at near fastball arm speed. He worked four hitless innings, striking out eight of the final 10 batters he faced. Tinkel also showed some two-way abilities with an 83 mph bat exit velocity and a solid 80 mph throwing arm across the diamond.
