2/12/22
Physical: 6-foot-0, 175 pounds; Athletic, broad shouldered build. 7.22 runner in the 60. Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a compact swing path with a two handed finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of L91/R89 MPH via Trackman. From the rright side, the swing is similar with just a touch more drag in the barrel which in turn creates a little more barrel whip and pop. Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; uses prep hop while playing low to the ground. Hands are out in front with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a high 3/4 arm slot. INF - 82 MPH. Pitching: Uses a glove side setup while using a side step. Belt high leg drive with shoulders above the hips. Has a moderate stride while landing slightly closed. Moderate arm swing while showing some scap load; standard 3/4 slot. Upright with finish. FB: Peak velo of 84 MPH, while sitting 83-84 MPH; life through the zone. CB: 67-69 MPH; late action. CH: 72-74 MPH; runs.
6/15/21
Physical: Strong, athletic 5-foot-10, 160lb frame with good connection in all phases and two-way abilities. 7.22 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: Switch-hitter - even, slightly upright stance with the hands showing rhythm while getting into the slot through a flat path at the hitting zone past the rib cage. Utilized an on-time leg lift with advanced feel from both sides at the plate yielding extra-base hit skills and a T90 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball during his round. Posted good B2B from RF line to LCF, staying inside producing a 32% line drive rate with a chance to hit for AVG. Will be a tough top of the order presence as he continues adding strength.
Defensively: The primary shortstop featured an up-tempo, advanced defensive round showing the glove hand out in front and funneling softly into the chest. Kept the feet moving towards the target with polish, getting downhill and releasing from H ¾ accurately on target (81 mph arm, left side projection). Handled plays on the run as well, dropping down a little lower when needed.
Pitching: RHP - Started off the left side of the rubber with consistent pace down the slope. Landed athletically into an adjustable, semi-sturdy front side allowing for good weight distribution, releasing H ¾ into the strike zone at 80-83 mph for strikes (54% zone rate via Trackman). Later added a sharp 68-70 mph CB with feel for spin and occasional swing/miss tendencies, mixing a commanded 73-75 mph CH to arm-side.
2/07/21
Physical: Lengthy 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with projectability in the build. 7.63 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: Switch hitter - Advanced feel for both sides in which he mirrors the movements from each with consistency. Upright, open stance with the hands showing rhythm at shoulder height. Utilized a leg hang stride with some drift outwards towards the pitcher. Landed in a good position launching the bat head through a flat path into the hitting zone; recorded a 32% line drive rate peppering the LCF gap with hard contact, notched an 88 mph bat-exit velocity with current doubles power evidenced by a near 300 foot peak batted ball distance during batting practice. Showed flashes of a developing power ceiling, which he can still tap into as he matures (20.2 G’s of rotational acceleration).
Defensively: The primary shortstop flashed confidence in a soft glove hand working smoothly out in front of the body; quick funnel into the belt line with some pace across the diamond. Got to a “V slot” and let it rip across the diamond (78 mph arm strength) as the actions suggested a stay on the left side of the infield moving forward, working at a high level.
Pitching: RHP - Solid pace on the bump from the middle of the rubber, traditional leg lift at the top of the stack with good drop and drive technique towards the plate. H-¾ slot yielded 79-81 mph FB’s with accuracy at the plate (50% zone rate). Mixed a tight 66 mph breaker with up to almost 2400 spin, countered with a 75 mph CH with above-average arm side fade.
8/08/20
Hit: Left-handed hitter that starts in a balanced stance. Very athletic mover in the box with athletic/body control. Found the barrel often in BP with the ability to spray it around the yard. Power: Gap abilities. Offensive Projection: Multiple Roles. Max BP Exit Velocity: 81mph. Max BP Distance: 250ft. Field: Smoothie actions in the infield. Looks athletic and controlled throughout the sequence. Solid ball skills. Throw: Loose arm that plays out of multiple slots. Defensive Projection: MIF look.
Scouting Notes: Athletic look to him on the bump. Very quick, compact arm that comes through a near high-3/4 slot. Fastball was true/projects for more and breaking ball had big, sharp action to it. Fastball: 75-77mph Fastball Spin Rate: 1935-2103 Curveball: 63-65mph Curveball Spin Rate: 2257-2376
