Scouting Report

2/12/22

Physical: 6-foot-0, 180 pounds; Athletic, muscular build. 6.87 runner in the 60.

Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Drops hands on the way back with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a slight lift to the ball with a finish around the back. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 95 MPH via Trackman.

Defensively: Starts with a compact setup; utilizing a traditional primary position while staying low during receiving. Hands are soft with a seamless transfer. Short take back from a high 3/4 arm slot. 1.97-2.02

6/15/21

Physical: Strong, well-proportioned 6-foot, 180lb frame with true athleticism and positional flexibility. 6.80 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Balanced, bent stance with the hands flat/calm at the shoulder to start; utilized a short lift and replace stride to initiate the bat head through a flat path into the hitting zone producing hard contact through the middle of the field. Hit into an adjustable front-side and kept his weight back yielding an impressive 62% line drive rate via Trackman to go along with a T91 mph bat-exit velocity during his batting practice round.

Defensively: The primary catcher flashed a narrow, strong base from a traditional crouch position as the soft glove hand operated easily, softly on the corners. Pop times ranged from 2.07-2.15, staying under the pitch and using quick/replaceable feet to get rid of the ball from a quick ¾ slot (68 mph arm). Then moved to the OF with a downhill approach that created consistent pace to the target. A quiet glove hand funneled inward off the left side, releasing from a shorter, high ¾ slot (accurate, 75 mph arm).

2/06/21

Physical: Well put together / physical stature in a 6-foot, 180-pound frame. 6.99 runner flashing athleticism in the movements.

Offensively: RHH - Crouched, open stance with the weight slightly favoring the backside as the hands have the barrel pointed downward over the back in the setup. Utilized an early toe tap stride allowing the bat head to match plane early and whip through a slightly uphill path. Can really swing it evidenced by a 97 mph max bat exit velocity / 91.19 mph average. An 82% hard hit rate would rank among the top ten in the PA ‘23 class at an event this year. Really gets through extension creating loft, (55% fly ball rate) and has plenty of positive results to back it up (370 foot peak batted ball distance). A 75% on-plane efficiency per Blast Motion points to high level bat to ball skills as well, which gives him the ability to hit for average and power down the line. High follow offensively.

Defensively: Primary backstop flashed advanced receiving abilities from a traditional setup with zero glove hand movement at the catch point, was smooth behind the dish. Pop times ranged from 2.18-2.25 with good actions from glove to throwing hand, but a slight pause could be eliminated allowing him to hover easily around 2.00. The arm worked well with true “four seam” carry towards the target (70 mph). Solid blocking abilities getting the chest downhill early and picking where he wanted to deaden the baseball … The outfielder showcased active footwork with good reads off of the bat, fielded the ball off of the left foot utilizing momentum towards the target, accurate 78 mph arm strength with more to come as he matures.
