Scouting Report
6/13/21
Physical: Projectable, uber-athletic 6-foot-2, 190lb frame with a natural backstop’s build. 7.02 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Crouched, balanced stance with the hands starting calm at the shoulder; utilized a controlled lift and replace stride out towards the pitcher initiating the hands through a flat path into the hitting zone. Maintained good posture with burst in the barrel upon impact, finding success staying on a line from gap to gap during batting practice. Posted an impressive 56% line drive rate via Trackman while holding consistent bat-speed in the boxx (79 mph max / 73 mph average). Continues improving already solid bat-to-ball skills with ability to consistently put up tough at-bats in game action. Worked his way up to a 92 mph bat-exit velocity and showed room for more as he continues adding strength.
Defensively: The primary backstop defends with the best of them; balanced/strong traditional setup in the crouch with a soft glove hand absorbing the baseball on the corners. Pop times ranged from 1.84-1.90 in showcase-setting with an immediate release following smooth/rhythmic exchanges at the catch point. Able to shut down the run game during gameplay with advanced feel for the catch/throw phase (79 mph arm) and power in the lower half out of the setup.
10/12/20
Physical: Athletic / solidly built 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame with length in the build creating projectability. 6.81 runner in the 60-yard dash. Offensively: RHH. Crouched, wide setup with a slightly open stance as the hands started at a 45 degree angle over the shoulder. Utilized a short toe tap stride in order to initiate the bat head through a fluid, slightly uphill path and into the hitting zone. Stayed inside the baseball well with a short path to the ball and long through it, long levers dealt damage while repeatedly being on time at the front of the plate. Was able to be adjustable and athletic in the lower half with above average rotational power in the box, consistently was beneath the baseball at a strong position at impact creating backspin to both gaps during batting practice. Recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 93 mph according to Trackman Baseball / 306 foot maximum batted ball distance and an impressive 31% hard hit rate during his round. Defensively: The primary backstop featured advanced receiving abilities with a soft glove hand at the catch point; low crouch in the setup with comfortability. Pop times ranged from 1.97-2.01 with above average straight line footwork, quick out of the crouch while holding low posture and showcased smooth transfers to a quick and short high ¾ slot. Noticeable arm strength and ability to create downward chest angles on blocks keeping runners honest and saving free-90’s for his team. C - 81 mph
