Scouting Report
Physical: Demonstrated a physical 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame with noticeable strength in the movements and sneaky athleticism. 7.69 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Crouched, open setup with the hands starting deep at the shoulder. Utilized a knee knock stride to initiate his swing coupled with a methodical move to the load position. The barrel works slightly uphill through the hitting window with natural loft to the pull-side during a quality round of batting practice at the PA State Games. Noticeable strength in the lower half creating powerful rotation through the middle of the field. Displayed feel for the hands while hitting into a stiff front side and registered a 94 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The backstop is a quality receiver, beating the ball to the spot repeatedly with a soft glove hand at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 2.15-2.22 showcasing feel for quick feet and smooth transfers on accurate throws on the bag. Arm action was short and quick through a high ¾ slot. Moved well laterally during blocks using soft, downward chest angles to allow for recovery ability. C - 68 mph
Demonstrated a long 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame with present strength in his actions and feel for his body. The right-handed hitter begins with a slightly open stance utilizing a knee-knock stride to initiate his swing. Generated barrel whip using a fluid lower half to create some hip-shoulder separation. Recorded an 85 mph bat-exit velocity with present pull-side lift and ran a 7.53 60-yard dash. The primary backstop showcased adequate receiving skills with minimal glove hand movement at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 2.01-2.09 on accurate throws of 70 mph from the crouch out of a high ¾ arm-slot. Strength in the legs allowed for quality straight line footwork and smooth transfers yielded repeatable throws on the bag. Displayed quality blocking skills beating the ball to the spot with the glove and creating soft walls and downward chest angles on both sides of the plate.
Body Type: 5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect.
Swing Mechanics: Righty bat with a smooth load that incorporates athletic movements.
Hit: Level path with whip through the zone. Shows hands spede to and strength through. Rotational swing sequence. Ball came off well in BP.
Power: Line drive guy with gap abilities. Showed authority in BP. Impressive 95.4 mph off the bat.
Offensive Projection: Run Producer traits.
Field: At the catcher position he has a quick transfer with efficient feet.
Throw: Good arm strength with short and compact arm action.
