Scouting Report
Demonstrated noticeable feel for a large 6-foot-2, 215-pound frame with present physicality and athleticism in his actions. The right-handed hitter begins with a balanced, even stance utilizing a controlled and deep knee-knock stride to launch the barrel through a slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Showcased one of the top batting practice rounds of the day with strong wrists yielding advanced barrel whip into the hitting zone creating loud contact in front of the plate and present pull-side pop. Lower half showed violent rotation displaying advanced hip-shoulder separation allowing for an impressive 102 mph bat-exit velocity (tops on the day). Ran a 4.55 home-to-first featuring the fluidity he possesses in his frame. The primary first baseman flashed comfortability around the bag with a low center of gravity creating occasional range to both sides of the field. Used inside turns on double plays with ability to recover back to the bag for the backend of the turn. Recorded an accurate 74 mph arm-strength across the infield out of a high ¾ arm-slot. Should be an interesting power bat follow in the ‘21 class.
Showcased an advanced 6-foot-2, 215-pound frame with physicality in his actions and athleticism in the lower half. The right-handed hitter begins with a balanced, even stance utilizing a deep knee-knock stride to initiate a whippy barrel through a slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Generated advanced hand speed in the zone allowing for loud and twitchy pull-side pop while hitting into a strong and stiff front side. Displayed repeatable hard contact out in front of the plate with lift to the left centerfield gap and demonstrated carry to centerfield during one of the top rounds of batting practice on the day. Recorded an impressive 97 mph bat-exit velocity and ran a 7.13 60-yard dash. The primary first baseman showed adequate feel around the bag with a moderately low center of gravity allowing for a soft glove hand to work through the ball. Registered an accurate 75 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot with a moderate takeaway in the back.
6-foot-2, 210-pound right-handed hitter starts with a slightly open stance and has a slight leg hang as he moves forward. Showcased one of the best offensive rounds of the day with consistent pop and the top bat exit velocity of the event at 91 mph. Repeatedly drove balls to the middle of the field with backspin and carry. Ran a 4.82 home-to-first. Needs to play lower to the ground to be more athletic defensively.
