The West York Bulldogs had a banner year in 2012, which culminated in a PIAA Class AAA State Championship. Along the way the Bulldogs won division, league and district titles while finishing with a combined 24-4 record. The Bulldogs appear to be primed for another run at a state title with the return of seven every day starters and three pitchers from last year's roster. Head Coach Roger Czerwinski feels like pitching and team speed will carry his club until the offense has a chance to develop. Following is a look at the players likely to play a major role in the Bulldogs run towards back-to-back state titles.
Class of 2013:
- 1B/LHP Brandon Kinneman - 6'2", 180-pound prospect who was a 2012 All-State selection after hitting .404 with 32 RBI. Kinneman throws left and bats right.
+See more information on Kinneman below - OF Brandon Rauhauser - 5'6", 165-pound senior who hit .390 last season with 31 runs scored and 31 stolen bases.
Class of 2014:
- C Cole Bixler - 5'11", 180-pound junior who hit .297 with 14 RBI in 2012. Bixler is a two-year starter with a 2.10 pop time behind the plate.
- 3B/RHP Carson Fries - 5'11", 210-pound run producer who hit .349 with 23 RBI last season. Fries has been an All-Conference performer in each of his first two seasons.
Underclassmen:
- OF/LHP Brett Kinneman - 5'11", 160-pound sophomore who has a bright future.
We are always looking for stories about prospects that might potentially catch a college coach or pro scout's eye. This one just might just do the trick.
Brandon Kinneman's success on the baseball diamond has already been discussed. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound 1B/LHP had much to do with the Bulldogs run to a state title in 2012. The athletic lefty is likely to be the ace of the Bulldogs' staff this year with his mid-80's fastball.
It's not uncommon for a left-handed pitcher to also quarterback his high school football team as Kinneman did this past fall. He did so very well, with 19 touchdowns and 1,628 yards threw the air. What makes Kinneman's story amazing is that he did so as a RIGHT-HANDED quarterback.
