The 11th Annual Super 60 Showcase took place on February 3 in Chicago and for the first time since its inception Pennsylvania players had an opportunity to showcase their talents. Three PA prospects made the lengthy trip to the windy city to perform in front of over 80 pro scouts, agents and media members.
Shaun Corso (Hempfield HS, West Virginia recruit, 3B/SS, 2013)
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound infielder stood out defensively with athletic actions and good feet. He displayed some power potential at the plate and rhythm to his swing.
Shane Dressler (Red Land HS, VCU recruit, 1B, 2013)
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound left-handed hitter showcased a power hitting stroke and one of the top bat exit velocities at the event at 93 mph. Dressler made an impression with his physical size athletic actions around the bag at first base.
Jextin Pugh (Bishop Guilfoyle HS, Binghamton recruit, 1B/RHP, 2013)
Pugh showed why he will likely have an opportunity to be a two-way player in college. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound left-handed hitter showcased power potential and a 94 mph bat exit velocity. He had the top infield arm at the event with a throw of 88 mph across the infield. Pugh also had a solid bullpen session sitting 89-90 with his fastball and showed a hard breaking 75 mph curveball that has potential.
Time will tell whether any of these initial Pennsylvania prospects will hear their name called in June or a future amateur draft. What is for sure is that the Super 60 Showcase will provide top prospects from Pennsylvania an excellent venue to showcase their talents for years to come.
