Cole Shaffer had an impressive freshman season at Indiana Area HS. The 5-foot-9, 150-pound 2B/SS broke into the starting lineup as a catcher early in his first season of high school competition. Shaffer, naturally a middle infielder, showed his athleticism and versatility in making the move behind the plate. Shaffer displayed that he was ready for the task early on, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI in an early April game.
Shaffer, who carries a 3.5 GPA, continued his strong play over the course of the summer. Splitting his time between the Indiana Jr. Legion program and playing travel baseball with All American Baseball, Shaffer shined. His summer was highlighted by being named the MVP of the Western PA Jr. Legion All Star game.
As he prepares for his sophomore campaign, Shaffer will showcase his talents this coming weekend at the Western PA College Prospect Showcase.
