Portage RHP Mike Bryja went the distance Tuesday afternoon to lead the Mustangs over Conemaugh Valley 2-1 in a key WestPAC North matchup. The sophomore allowed six hits, no walks and struck out five to help Portage improve to 10-4.
Portage got on the board in the bottom of the 4th inning with a Bryja RBI single scoring Brady Warner. Conemaugh Valley (9-3) tied the game in the 6th thanks to a Pat Callahan RBI single to left field scoring Adam Barnouski, who started the inning with a bunt single.
Portage answered in the bottom of the 6th going when catcher Brandon Vocco laced a run-scoring double to right-center for the go-ahead run to give Bryja all of the run support he needed. Callahan was the only player with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI.
