Throughout the preseason we'll be highlighting top newcomers with our Rookie Review installments. A Freshman corner infielder took a healthy round of batting practice and set the tone for what should be a fun offensive follow down the road.

ROOKIE REVIEW

What We Liked: The physically advanced 6-foot-3, 205-pounder showcased low-pulse actions in the box and repeatedly squared the baseball during a standout batting practice round from the right side. Tidwell turned the barrel athletically with more in the tank, which is impressive when looking at his well-advanced 77 mph peak bat-speed. The juice was efficient and connected often with a compact, simple swing that will carry over into game action. A 57% sweet spot flashed the ability to match plane, striking the ball hard throughout a consistent, balanced approach. Look for the Archbishop Carroll product to be an eventual high level contributor in the middle of the order. There could be a future move over to first base if the bat continues progressing further.
