ROOKIE REVIEW
What We Liked: The highly seasoned 5-foot-9, 155-pounder played above his size with efficient, repeatable actions both in the box and on the mound. The left-handed hitter started us off with a clean round of batting practice, spraying barreled line drives from gap to gap while reaching a 90 mph bat-exit velocity. Then the southpaw took a trusted 83 mph throwing arm from his position to the mound where he impressed with a commanded three-pitch arsenal. No stranger to spin, Astolfi lit up Trackman for 2355rpms on an 81-82 mph FB from a 4.9 foot release and added a banger 70-72 mph CB with good depth (-13.7 inches IVB, 2390rpms). He was also able to kill spin on the CH at 75-77 mph showing consistent fade to the arm-side (-10 inches HM, 1700rpms). Low-pulse operator that flashed above-average feel for the game.
