SCOUTING REPORT
5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Showcased quick hands with a direct swing path and a tendency to cut off his lower half. Potential for consistent power in his swing with work to clean up the lower half. Registered a bat exit velocity of 86 mph and ran a 7.59 60-yard dash. Displayed sound receiving skills with quick feet and a clean transition on pop times of 2.21-2.32 with 70 mph arm strength out of the crouch. Definite early follow in this class.
THOUGHTS ON THE FUTURE
"Budash showed off a solid, athletic frame with some physicality as evidenced by his 86 mph bat-exit velocity. It wouldn’t be crazy to think he can get to 90 mph this coming year with improvements to a lower half that tends to get forward and leak. A quick bat through the zone, Budash could turn himself into a middle of the order run producer in the future. With emphasis on the fluidity of his transfers while throwing from the crouch, he can become an all around catcher defensively. It’s not hard to imagine he’ll flirt with 2.0 in the coming year with these adjustments."
PLAYER COMPARISON
*Many times coaches will ask our staff "Who does he remind you of?" Player "comps" are a popular tool in the scouting/recruiting world and we have decided to add that niche to our feature articles.
