Q and A with Shaun Corso, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound SS/3B, Hempfield HS, Class of 2013
PBR: Where are you in the process of deciding on a college?
Corso: I am currently keeping my options open to see which colleges are the most serious about recruiting me. Then I will see what my best option will be.
PBR: What schools are you currently considering?
Corso: The schools that are recruiting me are the University of Oregon, VCU, Navy and Georgia Southern.
PBR: Is distance from home a factor in your decision?
Corso: No it is not. I have attended school and played on a travel teams in the Midwest while away from home for over a year.
PBR: Where have college coaches been able to see you?
Corso: Perfect Game events and multiple showcases on the east coast while playing with the Mid Atlantic Rookies.
PBR: What position do you see yourself playing in college?
Corso: 3B or short stop
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help your team?
Corso: I feel my biggest strength is my ability to hit to the opposite side of the field. I think this is a solid attribute and is a key to driving in runs and giving my team the best opportunity to win ball games.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most memorable experience from this past summer?
Corso: I play for the Mid-Atlantic Rookies. My most memorable experience this past summer was playing in the top 16 while at Perfect Game in Jupiter, Fl. We lost a heart breaker (that we really should have won) to the Canes Baseball National team.
PBR: What is your current GPA?
Corso: My current GPA is 3.5
PBR: What are your plans for your junior season and the summer of 2012?
Corso: My personal goals this high school and summer season are to hit over .450 and make all the Pennsylvania All State Team. For the team, I want to win a state championship because we have the opportunity to do it.
