Preseason All-State Showcase Spotlight: 2020 SS Joseph Pettinelli

The Preseason All-State Showcase annually draws in excess of 100 of the top uncommitted prospects in the state. This winter's event will take place over two days at Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim on February 16th and 17th.
As we draw closer to February we will be periodically highlighting some of the prospects scheduled to participate. Today we continue our preview with a look at 2020 SS/RHP Joseph Pettinelli.

Scouting Report
6/20/18 - 5-foot-10, 145-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to start his swing. Showcased a solid feel for the barrel during BP with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. Ran a 7.08 60-yard dash and displayed athletic defensive actions with an ability to make throws from multiple arm angles. Gains ground well while playing through the baseball routinely with accurate 76 mph arm strength across the diamond.
1/28/18 - 5-foot-10, 140-pound right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Loads hand in front and away from back shoulder with some barrel wrap leading to length in the swing. Registered a 76 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 6.92 60-yard dash. Showcased above average actions defensively with active feet, a quick release and the ability to play through the baseball. Current 79 mph arm strength will play on the left side of the infield and will continue to improve as he matures into his athletic frame.
6/27/17 - 5-foot-9, 140-pounder showcased a well-rounded skill set in all facets of the game. The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a knee-to-knee, leg-hand stride to initiate his swing. Hands work well through contact leading to consistent barrels with a bat exit velocity of 78 mph. Ran a 7.19 60-yard dash and showcased athletic actions defensively with a quick release and the ability to make throws from multiple arm angles. Pettinelli will be a prospect to follow as he adds strength to his frame and reaches physical maturity.
