Preseason All-State Showcase Spotlight: 2020 1B/LHP Christian Quinn

The Preseason All-State Showcase annually draws in excess of 100 of the top uncommitted prospects in the state. This winter's event will take place over two days at Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim on February 16th and 17th.
As we draw closer to February we will be periodically highlighting some of the prospects scheduled to participate. Today we continue our preview with a look at 2020 1B/LHP Christian Quinn.

10.27.18 - 6-foot-1, 220-pound switch hitter stood out as one of the top hitters on the day. Starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a leg-hang stride form both sides of the plate with similar swing paths. Left side shows greater lift and power potential but the true switch hitter has the ability to continue swinging from both sides moving forward. Made consistent loud contact while creating back spin, especially from the left side. Registered a bat exit velocity of 86 mph and ran a 7.77 60-yard dash. Showcased solid footwork and a soft glove hand around the bag at first base with accurate 80 mph arm strength across the diamond.
6.20.18 - 6-foot-1, 200-pound switch hitter impressed from both sides of the plate during BP. Starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a leg-hang stride form both sides of the plate with similar swing paths. True switch-hitter displayed greater pop from his left side (natural side) although he has been hitting from that side for a shorter period of time. Went 5-for-6 with two triples in game action showing a disciplined approach at the plate and a willingness to drive the baseball to the opposite field. Displayed a soft glove and capable actions around the bag at first base with 78 mph arm strength across the diamond. Also worked two innings on the mound sitting 75-79 out of a 3/4 arm slot with some cross fire action to his delivery. Curveball sat 66-68 with 1/7 rotation and changeup at 67-68 was thrown at near fastball arm speed.
1.28.18 - 6-foot-1, 200-pound switch hitter stars from a square stance and utilizes a toe tap stride to initiate his left-handed swing. Displayed good rhythm and balance with present power and a bat exit velocity of 86 mph. Right-handed swing is nearly as strong with a leg-lift stride initiating the lower half. Similar barrel awareness exists with some present power and solid balance. Displayed capable glove work around the bag at first base and registered 74 mph arm strength across the diamond. Left-hander sat 72-77 from a high 3/4 arm slot on the mound. Curveball displayed 1/7 rotation at 66-71 and changeup was thrown at near fastball arm speed at 68-71.
