PBR Mid-Atlantic Border Battle: Catcher Analysis

The summer rush of PBR events in Pennsylvania and West Virginia kicked into high gear in June with the PA Top Prospect Games (June 17-18), Shenandoah Valley College Prospect Showcase (June 23) and the PA Underclass Games (June 24-25) all offering college coaches a glimpse at some 175 prospects in a short period of time.
The month of July has also been a busy one with the Western PA Open ID Showcase (July 8) and the Eastern PA Open ID Showcase (July 9) offering an additional 75 prospects the ability to showcase their talents.
Prospects from six states recently assembled at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland for the PBR Mid-Atlantic Border Battle to complete the July schedule of events. Over the course of the next week we will be analyzing the prospects by position that made the trek to Maryland. Today we take a look at the catchers in attendance.

2015 C/1B Evan Moore (Loyalsock Township HS)
Moore went 5-for-10 in game play over four games. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound uncommitted senior registered an 83 mph bat exit velocity and showcased pop times of 1.96-2.04 on throws of 75 mph from the crouch. Moore demonstrated the ability to barrel the baseball to all fields during batting practice from a slightly open stance and a quiet load phase to his swing. The backstop stood out with his defense in game play. Moore receives and blocks well and has quick feet. Some minor adjustments to his footwork would likely move his pop times to the sub-2.0 range on a consistent basis.

2016 C/OF Adam Bankovich (DuBois Area HS)
Bankovich is a solidly built 5-foot-11, 195-pound junior with above average receiving skills and short stroke from the right side of the plate. The backstop registered pop times of 2.12-2.17 on throws of 71 mph from the crouch. Bankovich displayed the ability to consistently drive the baseball gap to gap during a solid round of batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 84 mph.
2015 C/2B Andrew Coleman (West Chester Rustin HS)
Coleman stood out with his energy and enthusiasm for the game. The 5-foot-8, 170-pound uncommitted senior 2-for-6 with two doubles in game play before suffering a leg injury that slowed him for the final day of the event. Coleman showcased pop times of 1.97-2.03 on throws of 77 mph from the crouch. The right handed hitter displayed some gap power and an 85 mph bat exit velocity during batting practice. Coleman also demonstrated the ability to move out from behind the plate with capable actions at 2B/3B.
2015 C/RHP Jesse Crammer (Greensburg Salem HS)
Crammer is a 6-foot-1, 210-pound right-handed hitter that went 2-for-5 in game action over the final two games after being hit by a pitch three separate times in his first two games. Crammer displayed an 82 mph bat exit velocity and registered pop times of 2.15-2.22 on throws of 70 mph from the crouch. The righty allowed one run in two innings of work on the mound topping at 77 mph from a high 2/4 arm slot.
2015 C Trenton Creppage (Bellwood-Antis HS)
Creppage is a solidly built 5-foot-11, 185-pound uncommitted senior that registered pop times of 2.15-2.19 on throws of 68 mph from the crouch. The right-handed hitter squared the baseball routinely during a solid round of batting practice from a slightly open stance with a high hands load. Creppage showed some gap power with a leg lift stride and a bat exit velocity of 80 mph.
2015 C/3B Eric Duerr (Sanford School, DE)
Duerr showcased pop times of 2.01-2.07 on throws of 77 mph from the crouch. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound uncommitted senior displayed a 90 mph bat exit velocity and a compact, right-handed swing that produced consistent line drives during a solid round of batting practice. Duerr went 3-for-10 with a double in game action and showed the ability to also play 3B capably when not behind the plate.
2017 C/OF Dylan Everly (Episcopal Academy)
Everly showed well in all facets of the game earning a spot in the PA Class of 2017 rankings. The 5-foot-11, 160-pound sophomore registered pop times of 2.00-2.08 on throws of 76 mph from the crouch. Everly displayed quick feet and a strong arm that is likely to continue to improve as his frame fills out. The left-handed hitter utilized a square stance and a flat swing path through the zone with no stride in consistently barreling the baseball during batting practice. Everly flashed a bat exit velocity of 83 mph and ran a 7.31 60-yard dash.
2015 C Derrick McHenry (Octorara HS)
McHenry went 4-for-9 in game action with a double including a ball he barreled off the left field wall. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound uncommitted senior right-handed hitter hits from a square stance with a high hands load and registered a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. McHenry showcased pop times of 2.04-2.11 on throws of 75 mph from the crouch.
