It’s a big week in baseball as the World Series gets started on Tuesday. If you had Giants vs. Royals as your prediction at the beginning of the season, good luck convincing people unless you had it documented. The Giants have been consistent winners recently and it’s never boring to see Madison Bumgarner or Buster Posey in action. The Royals are extremely exciting to watch and have won games using just about facet of the game. All that should make for a fun series.
Also starting this week is the World Wood Bat Championship. Many of the country’s top prospects will head to Jupiter, FL, to play in front of a few hundred scouts. Sean Duncan and I will be down there to bring you coverage of players in Prep Baseball Report’s area and top draft prospects.
Chandler World is one of the teams in participating in the tournament and the subject of this week’s Mailbag…
Chandler World is loaded with Division I commits. Who are the best potential draft prospects on that team?
I got to see Chandler World a couple weekends ago when they came to North Carolina for a weekend tournament. The best draft prospects that weekend were OF/1B Greg Pickett (Legend HS, CO) and 3B/1B Travis Blankenhorn (Pottsville HS, PA). Pickett arguably has the highest profile with his sweet swing and big raw power. His timing was off that weekend so he didn’t dominate, but he showed a good swing and has very good strength in his 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame. Blankenhorn is also strong, standing at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, and can swing it from the left side too.
