PBR Mailbag: Pennsylvania's Best Pitching Staffs
March 23, 2015
By Nathan Rode
National Supervisor
Even though some states got another round of snow in the last week, the weather seems to be progressing toward spring standards, even though it’s already officially the season. Baseball is heating up across the country as more states begin their 2015 campaigns. I just returned from Florida and while I won’t make you jealous of the weather I experience, I will encourage you to check out the content generated from the first chapter of The Rode Show. I’m back in North Carolina this week for the National High School Invitational so keep an eye out for coverage of that. Then I’ll return to Florida on Monday to run down a bunch of other draft prospects and underclassmen.
Now, let’s get to a reader’s question…
Which Pennsylvania teams have the best pitching staffs in each classification?
My role at Prep Baseball Report is to take a national look at things, covering the draft and top underclassmen in the country. This makes it difficult to have my own intimate knowledge about individual states, but because of how we operate, I have great access to the information. For this question, I handed the reins over to our guys in Pennsylvania. This is what Jacob Gill turned in:
PIAA 1A: Meyersdale Area
RHP Connor Christner (Potomac State JC) and his brother, sophomore three-sport phenom Riley Christner, team with senior Brady McKenzie to give the Red Raiders enviable depth for a small school. Check out the younger Christner show off his arm strength.
