The PA Top Prospect Games were held at Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg, PA on October 6 and 7. Over the next four days we will analyze the players from each team at the event. Today we take a look at the prospects who participated as members of the Grey Team.

                                 

Brooks Pletcher, 2B/SS, Class of 2013, Hickory HS
Pletcher showcased a solid glove and good range from his middle infield position. The 5-foot-8, 135-pound right handed hitter used a short stroke and a 70mph bat exit speed to consistently square baseballs during a solid round of batting practice. Pletcher ran a 7.78 60-yard dash and flashed a quick release on throws of 72mph across the infield.

Wes Lang, 2B/C, Class of 2014, Oil City HS
Lang is an accomplished hitter who continues to develop defensively. The 5-foot-9, 155-pound left-handed hitting 2B/C showcased 2.25-2.40 pop times out of the crouch on throws of 67mph. Lang had a solid round of batting practice and used his 75mph bat exit speed to go 2-for-3 in game play.

Dan Toner, SS/2B, Class of 2013, Gateway HS
Toner was one of a talented group of shortstops who showcased their abilities. He has solid size at 6-foot, 170-pounds. Toner ran a 7.25 60-yard dash, showcased a solid arm on throws of 79mph across the infield and used an 86mph bat exit speed to create barrel whip during a strong round of batting practice. Toner had a single and two RBI in the first inning to get the Grey Team started in the events' second game.

Tyler Potutschnig, 3B/RHP, Class of 2014, Glendale HS
Potutschnig showcased well in all facets of the game. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound 3B/RHP displayed soft hands and a solid arm on throws of 76mph across the diamond. He topped at 76mph with a 66mph curveball out of a high 3/4 arm slot on the mound. Potutschnig used a short stroke and a solid lower half to consistently square the baseball during his round of batting practice.

Kyle Fails, OF/LHP, Class of 2013, Lower Dauphin HS
Fails showed good range and precise angles to the baseball from his outfield position. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound lefty showcased a solid 85mph bat exit speed and worked a clean inning on the mound. Fails used a fastball with good arm side run that topped out at 76mph and a 65mph curveball out of a high 3/4 arm slot.

Evan Myers, RHP/1B, Class of 2014, Pope John Paul II HS
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound junior used a high 3/4 delivery to deliver a 76mph fastball, 64mph changeup and 61mph curveball. Myers showcased a solid change up with late downward movement. The right-handed hitter has a strong lower half that he used to consistently square the baseball in his round of batting practice.

Shane Connahan, OF/MIF, Class of 2014, Midd-West HS
Connahan is a 6-foot, 165-pound prospect who impressed in all areas. The left-handed hitter ran a 7.28 60-yard dash, threw 79mph from the outfield and showcased a 78mph bat exit speed. Connahan has very quick hands and the ability to consistently square the baseball. The right-handed thrower has good carry on throws from the outfield and excellent range. He has the ability to go to both gaps to track down fly balls.

Zach Craven, 1B/3B, Class of 2014, McKeesport HS
Craven ran a 7.50 60-yard dash and displayed a 79mph bat exit speed. Craven also impressed with sound defensive actions at first base. Offensively, Craven used his 6-foot-3, 175-pound frame to spray line drives to all fields during a solid round of batting practice.

Sam Donko, RHP/1B, Class of 2013, Youngstown Ursiline HS (OH)
Donko, an uncommitted senior, traveled from Ohio to showcase his abilities. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound right-handed hitter used one of the top bat exit speeds of the event (90mph) to drive baseballs to all fields during an impressive round of batting practice. Donko went to the mound in the fourth inning of Game #2 and immediately gained the attention of everyone in the stadium. Donko used a high 3/4 delivery to light up the radar gun and send hitter after hitter back to the dugout. In two innings of work, he yielded one hit while striking out six. Donko sat 88-89mph with his fastball. He also utilized an 11/5 breaking curveball at 75mph and a 78mph slider that is a plus out pitch. Donko's fastball has good late life and is thrown with very good rhythm. Donko was named the MVP of the Red Team for his efforts.

                                  

Dan Furman, RHP, Class of 2013, Monsignor Bonner HS
Donko may have stolen the show, but Furman was a very close second. The 6-foot, 185-pound uncommitted senior threw the first three innings for the Grey Team and was also very impressive. Furman uses a solid lower half to generate good late life on his fastball out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Furman sat 85-87mph with his fastball. He also showcased an 11/5 breaking curveball that sat 73-75mph. Furman throws a 75mph changeup at near fastball arm speed that has solid arm side run.

Matt Roberts, C/3B, Class of 2014, Tamaqua HS
Roberts is a 5-foot-10, 200-pound prospect that showcased throws of 70mph out of the crouch and pop times of 2.25-2.35, Offensively, Roberts utilized a strong lower half and a bat exit speed of 82mph to consistently square the baseball in a solid round of batting practice.
