The PA Top Prospect Games were held at Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg, PA on October 6 and 7. Today we take a look at the prospects who participated as members of the Red Team.

                                     

Joe Thompson, LHP/OF, Class of 2014, Avon Grove HS
Thompson did not participate in the showcase portion of the event, but he certainly impressed in game play. Thompson faced only six hitters in his two innings of work, not allowing a ball to leave the infield. The 5-foot-11, 140-pound lefty used a 76mph fastball with good arm side run, a 68mph curveball with 1/7 break and a 63mph changeup with good late movement to quiet the Black Team's bats. Thompson keeps the baseball down in the zone and out of the middle of the strike zone. Offensively, Thompson went 2-for-4 with a double.

Ted Williams, 2B/SS, Class of 2014, Meadville HS
Williams ran one of the top 60-yard dash times of the event at 7.20 on a slow track. The 5-foot-7, 135-pound left handed hitter had one of the nine hits that the Red Team compiled in the game. Williams flashed some leather in the third inning as he ranged behind second base, flipping the ball to the shortstop with his glove hand for the final out of the inning.

Matt Davis, SS/2B, Class of 2013, Cumberland Valley HS
Davis, a VCU commit, did not disappoint. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound prospect ran a 7.10 60-yard dash, threw 85mph across the infield and had an 87mph bat exit speed. Davis put on a show in infield with quick feet smooth hands and a strong arm. He went on to go 2-for-2 with three RBI in game play. Davis was awarded the MVP of the Red Team for his efforts.

                                     

Mitchel Lacey, 3B/OF, Class of 2014, Cumberland Valley HS
Lacey was solid in all facets of the game as he ran a 7.24 60-yard dash, threw 77mph across the infield and turned in a bat exit speed of 83mph. Lacey had a solid round of batting practice using a short, compact stroke to square baseballs to all fields. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound prospect turned in a 1-for-4 performance at the plate in game play.

Matt Rafferty, RHP/OF, Class of 2014, Seneca Valley HS
Rafferty is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound prospect who continues to get better. The talented prospect ran one of the best times of the day in the 60-yard dash at 7.03, threw 78mph from the outfield and had a bat exit speed of 82mph. On the mound, Rafferty pushed through some soreness to work one scoreless inning. Although Rafferty was not at his best, he still mixed a low 80's fastball with a 66mph curveball and a 73mph slider that is a plus pitch.

Ricky Dennis, RHP, Class of 2013, Central Bucks South HS
Dennis, a Monmouth commit, worked three innings showing why he is a highly regarded recruit. The 6-foot-8, 225-pound RHP sat 84-87 with a heavy fastball. He worked out of a high 3/4 arm slot to deliver a 72mph curveball with tight rotation and an 11/5 break. Dennis appears to be just beginning to develop into his physical stature and is primed to make significant gains in velocity.

Michael Adams, RHP/1B, Class of 2014, Cumberland Valley HS
Adams is a 6-foot-4, 215-pound RHP/1B who was impressive. Adams showcased an 83mph bat exit speed that he used to continually square baseballs during batting practice. He used a solid lower half and a short swing plane to drive baseballs to all fields. Adams worked one inning on the mound in game play, topping out at 83mph from an over the top arm slot. Adams also showed an 11/5 breaking curveball at 70mph.

Garett Blank, C/3B, Class of 2014, St. James School (MD)
Blank is a Pennsylvania resident who attends school in Maryland. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound C/3B ran a 7.29 60-yard dash, and had a solid 86mph bat exit speed. Blank shined in game play going 2-for-3 with two RBI. He also showed well defensively with pop times of 2.05-2.10 on throws of 74mph from the crouch.

Kole Aumiller, C, Class of 2014, Cumberland Valley
Aumiller continues to impress with his bat. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound catcher had an impressive round of batting practice squaring nearly every pitch and showing good gap power. Aumiller has an 85mph bat exit speed and very quick hands.

Shane Dressler, 1B/3B, Class of 2013, Red Land HS
Dressler is currently ranked No. 4 in the Class of 2013 and looked every bit the part at the event. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound left-handed hitter ran a 7.31 60-yard dash, threw 81mph across the infield and had a very solid 90mph bat exit speed. Dressler showed soft hands and good feet at first base during infield evaluations, but saved his best for his round of batting practice. Dressler used a slightly open stance and a very solid lower half to drive baseballs to all fields. Dressler put an exclamation point on his round when he hit a ball off the foul pole in right field. The ball hit roughly 3/4 of the way up the pole and caromed back into shallow right field.

Luke Lingle, RHP, Class of 2013, Lower Dauphin HS
Lingle did not participate in the defensive portion of the showcase, but did arrive in time to showcase a 76mph bat exit speed. Lingle had a solid round of batting practice in which he consistently squared the baseball. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound RHP worked two scoreless innings in game play with two strikeouts. Lingle throws out of a high 3/4 delivery and uses four pitches effectively. His fastball topped out at 78mph with good arm side run. Lingle also commanded a 62mph curveball with a 12/6 break and a 70mph slider that is thrown from a 3/4 arm slot. His calling card is his cutter topped out at 74mph. The pitch has good late movement and is used as an out pitch.
