A total of 180 prospects showcased their talents over the past 10 days at three separate Prep Baseball Report events. Over the coming week PBR will break down the prospects at all three events and evaluate the top performers.

Three of those prospects will begin their high school baseball careers this coming spring. Today we look at the prospects from the Class of 2017.

Austin BakerLHP Austin Baker, Governor Mifflin HS, Class of 2017

Baker is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound LHP/1B who worked out only as a pitcher and showed some promise. The solidly built lefty sat 72-74 with some arm side run out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Baker also showcased a 64-66 mph 1/7 breaking curveball and a changeup that sat 68-70. Baker has a tendency to allow his front side to fly open, but showed good command of all three pitches and the potential for significant velocity gains in the future.

Chasen ClausC Chasen Claus, West Allegheny HS, Class of 2017

Claus is a 5-foot-8, 180-pound right handed hitting catcher that showcased sound receiving and blocking abilities. He displayed pop times of 2.38-2.40 on throws of 66 mph out of the crouch. Claus hits from a square stance with almost no load phase in his swing. He stayed behind the baseball well and consistently squared the baseball with a bat exit velocity of 76 mph. Claus has a projectable catcher's frame and should continue to develop arm strength and bat speed as his body continues to mature.

Christian MilletaryRHP/3B Christian Milletary,  West Allegheny HS, Class of 2017

Milletary is a 5-foot-9, 135-pound prospect that showed sound mechanics on the mound out of a high 3/4 arm slot. He sat 68-70 with command of a 57 mph 11/5 breaking curveball and a 57 mph split change. Milletary should see significant jumps in velocity over the next four years as his body fills out. He showcased sound fielding mechanics and a 64 mph arm across the diamond. Milletary displayed a 73 mph bat exit velocity and the ability to square the baseball consistently during his round of batting practice.

Kirk MumauSS/OF Kirk Mumau, Meadville HS, Class of 2017

Mumau is a 5-foot-9, 140-pound SS/OF from Meadville HS that showed athletic actions and a 66 mph arm across the diamond. He barreled the baseball consistently during his round of batting practice utilizing a square stance and good extension to his swing. In addition, Mumau ran a 7.75 60-yard dash and sat 71-73 on the mound out of a high 3/4 arm slot. The freshman to be also displayed a 56-58 mph curveball that he telegraphs by dropping his arm slot and a 64 mph changeup.
