On Deck Preview: Preseason All-State - Southeast Session 2

As we kick off our Preseason All-State tour this weekend, we highlight some returning players that we are excited to see the results from an off season of training.

sean brennan / rhp / north penn, PA / 2021Rankings StateRank: 117 / POS: 22
6-foot, 175-pound righty sat 80-81 while topping at 82 mph from a 3/4 arm slot and a short takeaway. Showed above average command of three pitches and some funk to his delivery that adds deception. Curveball at 68-71 showed tight 11/5 rotation and changeup at 70-75 flashed consistent arm-side run.

joseph wileczek / mif / west chester east, PA / 2021Rankings StateRank: 66 / POS: 13
5-foot-6, 150-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a leg-hang stride. Displayed a feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 86 mph. An above average runner with a soft glove hand and solid arm strength. |
jack giovenco / c / parkland, PA / 2021Rankings StateRank: 118 / POS: 15
6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitter uses a toe-tap stride to begin his swing from a crouched, slightly-open stance. Displayed solid hands during batting practice spraying line drives to all fields notching a personal best 78 mph bat-exit-velocity. The catcher showed soft hands behind the dish with controlled receiving abilities. Utilized advanced straight-line footwork to routinely throw pop times of 2.09-2.17 on the bag. Demonstrated his athleticism with a solid 7.02 60-yard dash. |
michael lennon / LHP / north penn, PA / 2021Rankings StateRank: 99 / POS: 12
Long, projectable 6-foot-4, 185-pound junior sat 83-84 from a high 3/4 arm slot. Showcased a quick arm action with signs of increased velocity in his future. Curveball, while erratic at times, shows biting 12/6 action. Also showcased a a changeup at 71-72 and a cutter with some late movement at 73-74. Definite follow in this class with a chance to make significant strides over the next two years. |
rj rickabaugh / c / coatesville area, PA / 2022Rankings StateRank: 29 / POS: 5
5-foot-10, 175-pound left-handed hitter has an advanced approach at the plate with the ability to utilize all fields. Hits off of a solid lower half with a leg-hang stride and has above average intent. Showed patience at the plate and a solid knowledge of the strike zone going 1-for-5 with three walks over the course of three games. Showed leadership qualities behind the dish and in the dugout. Sound receiver has above average 79 mph arm strength out of the crouch and flashed 2.13 and 2.15 in game pop times on a pair of runners caught stealing. |
