RECENT EVENT HISTORY
2019 Preseason All-State Showcase (2/17/19)
6-foot-1, 205-pound primary pitcher sat 80-82 from a high 3/4 arm slot with heavy arm-side run to his fastball. Curveball showed 11/5 rotation at 64-67. Changeup is thrown with good sell and displayed some sink at 69-71. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a toe-tap stride to begin. Displayed a strong lower half with a middle of the field approach and the ability to create backspin. Registered an 89 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.36 60-yard dash. Showcased solid feet and glove work at first base with 75 mph arm strength across the diamond.
WHAT TO EXPECT
"Advanced physical frame for Kanagy at proportional 6-foot-2 225 pounds. The RHP/1B has showed power potential with slight lift through zone. Strength plays through the middle of the field with adequate footwork around the bag at first. The key on February 22nd...will he begin to show that his offensive game has another gear as all the tools are there. On the mound he is deliberate with his pace; has lowered his arm slot and hides the ball well to where his velocity can play up. Looking for another bump in that area has secondary stuff has show polish at past events."
PLAYER COMPARISON
*Many times coaches will ask our staff "Who does he remind you of?" Player "comps" are a popular tool in the scouting/recruiting world and we have decided to add that niche to our feature articles.
