No. 8 Shane Muntz

Shane MuntzThere are those who have a projectable frame and then there is Shane Muntz. The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder looks the part of a college upperclassmen but has three years of high school baseball remaining. He has some work to do to harness his power potential offensively, but his 97 mph bat exit velocity and compact swing give every indication that real power is on the way.

Muntz went 2-for-5 with a double over the course of two games and flashed indications of his future power with a home run during his batting practice round at the PA Top Prospect Games in June. Muntz displayed pop times of 2.03-2.08 on throws of 80 mph from the crouch. His physical size, and athleticism at that size, project him as a 1B or RHP moving forward however. Muntz worked one inning from a high 3/4 arm slot sitting 86-88. He also flashed the makings of a solid breaking ball at 76 mph.

Muntz, ranked No. 2 in Pennsylvania and No. 14 in the PBR combined rankings in the Class of 2017 has since committed to Virginia Tech.
