8/02/20

 

Physical: Long and projectable 6-foot-5, 215-pound frame with an incredibly high ceiling while showing athleticism / advanced strength throughout the movements. 7.18 runner in the 60-yard dash. 

Offensively: RHH. Wide, balanced stance with circular rhythm in the hands above the shoulder in the setup. Utilized a shoulder turn slightly inward coupled with a lift-and-replace stride to initiate a loud, slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. Above average feel at the dish and kept the body behind the baseball consistently, let the hands and long levers do damage at the front of the plate. Was able to keep the bat head short inside the baseball when pitched in and ambushed pitches out over the plate where he did the most damage. Showcased a primarily pull-side approach during batting practice spraying balls all over the left side from LCF to LF line featuring natural backspin on the ball flight. Recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 104 mph per Trackman Baseball with a couple absolute missiles hit during his round / up to a 390 foot maximum batted ball distance and 78.5 mph top bat speed according to Blast Motion. High level middle of the order hitter who knows how to situationally hit / results came in game action as well. 

Defensively: The primary first baseman demonstrated a solid feel around the bag with a medium center of gravity on the approach off of the left side of his body, soft glove hand that played loosely out in front with a feel for playing through the ball or giving on it. Accurate, high ¾ slot across the diamond with length in the arm swing. INF - 79 mph


 

6/15/20

 

Physical: 6-foot-5, 217 pounds; big, imposing, athletic frame. 7.09 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Athletic stance with an even base; small bat waggle with a stride for timing. limited effort with swing is mostly upper body, gifted hand speed, swings up on the ball; 19 degree bat angle into the zone via Blast Motion. Williams is able to produce 5.2 G’s of force with an on-plane efficiency of 62%.  Hard pull-side contact; average Trackman exit velocity of 94 MPH; peak exit velo was 102 MPH. Defensively: Upright, uses a prep hop; sits back, smooth footwork coming off the bag. fields the ball on his glove side and gets rid of it quickly; Short arm swing with a 3/4 arm slot.  INF - 81 MPH. 
Pitching: Starts in the set on the first base side of the rubber, simple, repeatable actions. Medium arm swing with a high 3/4 arm slot. FB: T 83 MPH, 81-83 MPH. Holds plane well with some arm side run. CB: 68-71 MPH. changes eye level with 11-5 shape.  CH: 72-74 MPH. shows late down action.

 

3/01/20

 

6-foot-5, 217-pound two-way prospect worked out solely as a position player on this date and took the loudest round of batting practice at the event. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a simple lift-and-replace stride. Showcased a direct swing path and an explosive lower half creating advanced back spin and present power to the pull side. Registered a bat exit velocity of 99 mph and ran a 7.19 60-yard dash. Showcased athetic actions around the bag at first base with a soft glove hand, active feet and 83 mph arm strength across the diamond.

 

2/16/20

 

6-foot-5, 210-pound primary pitcher sat 80-83 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a balanced, repeatable delivery. Curveball at 67-69 showed 11/5 rotation with two-plane break at times. Changeup at 75-75 was commanded with good arm speed. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and uses a heel-raise stride to begin. Displayed balance throughout with a feel for the barel and the ability to create back spin consistently. Registered a bat exit velocity of 95 mph and ran a 7.25 60-yard dash. Showcased solid footwork and a soft glove hand at first base with 80 mph arm strength.

 

3/02/19

 

6-foot-5, 195-pound righty sat 78-81 from a high 3/4 arm slot with small arm-side run while routinely getting down hill. Showed above average command of his curveball at 65-67 with 11/5 rotation. Changeup was thrown with good arm speed at 71-72 but lacks movement at this point in its development. Right-handed hitter stars from a square stance and utilizes a toe-tap stride to begin. Displayed balance throughout with a feel for the barrel. Registered a bat exit velocity of 87 mph and ran a 7.60 60-yard dash. Showcased solid footwork and a capable glove hand around the bag at first base with accurate 76 mph arm strength across the diamond.
