Souderton Area 2, Spring-ford 1
Spring-Ford traveled to Souderton Area on Wednesday for a PIAA District One round of 16 game following a win over Quakertown on Monday. The Rams one a one run affair 8-7 over Quakertown, but were unable to pull off the same magic at Souderton in another one run game, losing 2-1.
Spring-Ford junior Zach Male went the distance and was the hard luck loser. Over six innings Male allowed just four hits while walking four and striking out seven. Souderton Area got an even better performance from LaSalle recruit Jordan Morales. The senior lefty went six innings allowing four hits and one run while walking three and striking out 10 to earn the win. Uncommitted senior Luke Taylor worked a clean 7th inning with two strikeouts for the save.
Millersville recruit Chase Simmons led the Rams offense with a 2-for-3 night including Spring-Ford's only RBI. Moses Clemens' two-out double in the bottom of the 6th scored Barton College recruit Andrew Curran with the winning run.
Souderton Area, the 2019 SOL Continental Conference Champs, moved to 18-3 with the win and will move on to the round of eight on Friday. Spring Ford's season came to a close with the loss at 14-10.
