Game of the Day: Germantown Academy at Archbishop Carroll
April 4, 2018
Germantown academy 7, Archbishop carroll 6
The addition of a turf baseball field gives high school baseball teams in the northeast a decided advantage when attempting to play games in early season weather conditions in the northeast. On Tuesday, Archbishop Carroll welcomed Germantown Academy to Cabrini-Carrroll field for the inaugural game played at the brand new facility.
The Good
+ While weather postponed 99.9% of the games statewide Tuesday, baseball was able to be played thanks to the field turf recently installed at Archbishop Carroll.
+ Louisville commit Tyler Kehoe, No. 3 in the PA Class of 2019, went 3-for-3 on the evening while driving in three runs for Archbishop Carroll.
+ Dan Crossan went 1-for-2 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored for Archbishop Carroll.
+ Germantown Academy's Shane Harkins, a George Washington commit ranked No. 17 in the PA Class of 2020, went 2-for-2 with a triple, a run scored and four RBI.
+ Mike Reilly went 1-for-3 with two RBI, including the game winner for Germantown Academy.
+ Bloomsburg commit Jack Sullivan, No. 94 in the PA Class of 2018, went 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.
THE BAD
+ Poor weather, and pitchers that have had a lack of consistent work, resulted in command issues. A total of seven pitchers from two teams combined to issue 19 walks in the shortened, 5-inning game.
+ Position players were also affected by the elements as the teams combined to commit five errors which led to three unearned runs.
