Shaler 4, Butler 3
Shaler and Butler opened WPIAL league play with a close one at Historic Pullman Park. Butler committed three errors in the top of the 6th inning, their only misues of the evening, leading to the winning run.
Junior RHP Nick Rispoli, who recently announced a commitment to Dayton, got it done on the mound and at the plate for Shaler. Currently ranked No. 96 in the PA Class of 2020, Rispoli went the distance allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out 10. The right-handed hitter also doubled twice and drove in a run in four at bats to help his own cause.
Joshua Grigoletti was the hard luck loser for Butler allowing just five hits in 6.2 innings of work. Kyle Weitzel led the Butler offense with a 3-for-4 night at the plate while scoring a run and driving in a run. Three of the Tornado hits were of the three base variety.
Shaler moved to 4-2 overall with the win and 1-0 in league play. Butler dropped to 1-4 (0-1).
