Souderton senior RHP Luke Taylor and North Penn senior LHP Joe Valenti matched up in a pitchers' duel on Tuesday with Taylor getting the complete game shutout.
Taylor went the distance on 94 pitches while allowing just two hits to pick up the win. He did not walk a batter and set down six North Penn hitters on strikes.
Valenti, a Misericordia commit, was almost as good. He allowed single runs in the 3rd and 7th, with just one run being earned. Like Taylor, Valenti was a model of efficiency. The lefty walked one, struck out four and allowed six hits while utilizing just 92 pitches to go the distance.
Sophomore Jake Horton led the Souderton offense with a 2-for-2 night that included an RBI. Senior Dylan Kummery picked up the Indains' other RBI.
Souderton improved to 9-2 (7-0 in conference play) on the season. North Penn fell to 5-6 (3-4 in conference play) with the loss.
