Game Recap: Annville-Cleona at Lancaster Catholic
May 1, 2018
In a game that had every indication of a pitcher's duel going in, Lancaster Catholic scored all the runs they would need in the bottom of the 1st inning in route to a 4-1 win over Annville-Cleona in Lancaster-Lebanon League action on Monday.
2019 shortstop Cam Barto reached on an error to begin the bottom of the 1st, stole second and scored on a single by Kentucky commit Dillon Marsh. A second Annville-Cleona error allowed Marsh to reach third base and fellow Kentucky commit, 20120 catcher Bryce Behmer, followed with a sacrifice fly for the second run of the inning.
2019 lefty Nick Breznak, a Radford commit, made those two runs stand up allowing just an unearned run in the 3rd inning that cut the lead in half at 2-1.
Behmer drove in his second run of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run to left-center field to get that run back. The Crusaders then got an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th inning on a two-out single by 2019 second baseman Alex Kukic.
Breznak earned the complete game win allowing four hits and one walk while striking out seven on 83 pitches. Annville-Cleona starter Sal Biondollo was the hard luck loser surrendering just one earned run in six innings of work. The 2019 right-hander allowed six hits, struck out six and did not walk a batter.
2020 shortstop Tyler Long led the Annville-Cleona offense going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Marsh (2-for-3, 2B, RBI, R), Kukic (2-for-3, RBI) and Behmer (1-for-2, SF, HR, 2 RBI, R) led the Crusader's six hit attack.
