Fall Program: Week Two Middle Infield Analysis

The 2nd Annual Fall College Prospect Program moved to La Roche College for Week Two action on September 14. The fall format involves two nine inning games and a showcase at each of three stops over the course of the month of September. Today we continue our analysis of the prospects in attendance during Week Two of the program by taking a look at the middle infielders in attendance.

2015 2B/SS Ty Reginelli (Mars Area)
Reginelli stood out as not only the top middle infield prospect in attendance but the top overall prospect on the day. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound uncommitted senior showed a well-rounded skill set flashing a big arm (88 mph) across the diamond and a solid 87 mph bat exit velocity from the left side of the plate. Reginelli went 3-for-8 at the plate in game action, including a triple to deep center field. The left-handed hitter showcased quick hands from an open stance with a heel raise stride. Reginelli displayed the ability to drive the baseball routinely to all fields during his round of batting practice.

2017 SS/RHP Drew Farling (East Pennsboro)
Farling has a projectable 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame and a rhythmic swing from the right side of the plate. The sophomore incorporates a toe tap stride and gets to extension routinely with a bat exit velocity of 79 mph. Farling worked three scoreless innings on the mound with three strikeouts topping at 74 mph while commanding a curveball, slider and knuckle ball mix. The two-way prospect showcased a soft glove hand and developing arm strength across the diamond.
2015 2B/1B Tyler Hall (State College Area)
Hall is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound infielder that demonstrated the capability to play multiple infield positions. The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and has a direct swing path with a line drive approach. Hall is coming off a junior season in which he hit .250 and scored 14 runs for the Little Lions helping them to advance to the PIAA state AAAA tournament.
2015 2B/SS Paul Nussbaum (Pine-Richland)
Nussbaum is a 5-foot-8, 150-pound uncommitted senior that runs a 6.99 60-yard dash. The left-handed hitter showcased his foot speed and bat control with a perfectly executed push bunt in game action. Nussbaum plays the game hard and shows good range defensively.
2016 SS/2B Austin Richard (Ellwood City)
Richard displayed athletic defensive actions and the ability to play through the baseball with a 72 mph arm across the diamond. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and gets to extension routinely. Richard flashed a 77 mph bat exit velocity and went 2-for-4 with two RBI in game action. The junior ran a 7.44 60-yard dash.
2016 SS/3B Adam Robinson (Blackhawk)
Robinson is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound right-handed hitter that displayed the ability to stay behind the baseball well with no stride from a slightly open stance. The junior barreled the baseball routinely to all fields during batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. Robinson showed good feet and the ability to play through the baseball at multiple infield positions with an accurate 73 mph arm across the diamond.
2016 2B/SS Cole Shaffer (Indiana Area)
Shaffer showcased a 79 mph bat exit velocity and a direct swing path while going 1-for-4 in game action from the right side of the plate. The 5-foot-9, 155-pound junior ran a 7.65 60-yard dash and displayed the ability to make plays on the move defensively. Shaffer showed an accurate 76 mph arm across the diamond and fluidity to his actions at both middle infield positions.
2016 SS/2B Robbie Swinderman (Blackhawk)
Swinderman ran a 7.72 60-yard dash and showcased a 76 mph arm across the diamond. The 5-foot-9, 145-pound right-handed hitter displayed the ability to use all fields during batting practice starting from a square stance. Swinderman utilized a lift and replace stride to create a bat exit velocity of 79 mph and showed the ability to square the baseball frequently.
