Fall Program: Week Three Outfield Analysis

The 2nd Annual Fall College Prospect Program came to a close on September 28 with a final stop at Widener University. The fall format involved two nine inning games and a showcase at each of three stops over the course of the month of September. Today we complete our analysis of the prospects in attendance during Week Three of the program by taking a look at the outfielders in attendance.

Top Prospects


Eric DresslerEric Dressler, OF/C, Red Land HS, PA (2015)

Dressler turned in the top performance of the day during Week Three action going 4-for-6 with a double and a triple at the plate. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Frederick CC (MD) commit ran a 7.03 60-yard dash and displayed an 84 mph bat exit velocity. Dressler showcased two-way potential that will likely give him an opportunity to see early playing time at the next level. He showcased a 77 mph arm from the outfield and registered pop times of 2.00-2.13 on throws of 73 mph behind the plate.

James GaborJames Gabor, OF, William Penn Charter HS, PA (2017)

Gabor impressed with his raw athletic actions and his projectability. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound left-handed hitter showcased loose hands and the ability to stay inside the baseball from a square stance during batting practice. Gabor went 2-for-4 in game action and registered a 78 mph bat exit velocity. He will need to continue to develop his 74 mph arm from the outfield, but his 6.82 60-yard dash was tops at the event and he converted it well to game action. Gabor showcased his speed with a long run for a catch in foul territory in left field.

Michael Geesaman  JrMichael Geesaman Jr., OF/SS, Lower Dauphin HS, PA (2017)

Geesaman showcased the top outfield arm at the event at 88 mph with good straight line carry. The 5-foot-11, 160-pound sophomore ran a solid 6.97 60-yard dash and took one of the top rounds of batting practice on the day. Geesaman stays on his backside well and uses a strong lower half to create a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Geesaman routinely squared the baseball with a lift and replace stride from the left side of the plate.

Steve LorenzSteve Lorenz, OF, William Penn Charter, PA (2017)

Lorenz ran a 7.18 60-yard dash and displayed good carry on throws of 85 mph from the outfield. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound sophomore Lorenz went 3-for-3 with a triple during game action and registered an 82 mph bat exit velocity. Lorenz has a projectable frame and creates solid barrel whip from an open stance with a lift and replace stride foot and good hip turn. The right-handed hitter squared the baseball routinely in batting practice while demonstrating the ability to utilize all fields.


Best of the rest (In alphabetical order)


Nick Amey, OF, Emmaus HS, PA (2017)

Amey went 1-for-3 in game action during Game One. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound sophomore only participated in game play, but has displayed a 78 mph arm from the outfield and a short swing path with a 79 mph bat exit velocity at previous events. Amey is athletic and has a frame that projects for additional size and strength moving forward.

Jordan Art, OF/RHP, Lakeland HS, PA (2017)

Art went 1-for-3 in game action while barreling the baseball in two of his three at bats. The 5-foot-11, 145-pound sophomore has shown the ability to play multiple defensive positions and is making rapid strides on the mound. Art worked three innings allowing one run on three hits. He sat 73-74 out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Art's 69 mph slider was very sharp on this day leading to a number of swing throughs and soft ground balls.

Eric Duran, OF/1B, Pine-Richland HS, PA (2015)

Duran showcased an 80 mph arm from the outfield and moved well around the bag at first base during game action. The 6-foot, 190-pound unsigned senior has a physical frame and ran a solid 7.22 60-yard dash. Duran displayed an above average 88 mph bat exit velocity from the right side of the plate, consistently squaring the baseball in batting practice with gap power.

Josh Herring, OF, Mechanicsburg HS, PA (2016)

Herring showed a well-rounded skill set, running a 6.92 60-yard dash while flashing an 82 mph arm from the outfield. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and a high hands load. Herring barreled the baseball consistently in batting practice with a flat barrel path creating a bat exit velocity of 79 mph.

Patrick Kirk, OF, Malvern Prep, PA (2015)

Kirk is an unsigned senior that went 1-for-3 with a double in game action while barreling the baseball to center field in his final at bat. The left-handed hitter barreled the baseball routinely in batting practice from a square stance with no stride and a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. Kirk ran a 7.14 60-yard dash and displayed an accurate 73 mph arm from the outfield.

Jacob Leibig, OF, Bishop McDevitt HS, PA (2017)

Leibig went 2-for-4 in game action from a square stance with no stride. The right-handed hitter displayed the ability to stay behind the baseball and to use all fields with a bat exit velocity of 71 mph. Leibig showed good feet (7.03 60-yard dash) and an accurate 73 mph arm from the outfield. The 5-foot-11, 155-pound sophomore has an athletic frame that should continue to develop.

Brandon Reis, OF, La Salle HS, PA (2017)

Reis is a 5-foot-10, 170-pound sophomore that showed athletic actions and an accurate 69 mph arm from the outfield. The right-handed hitter barreled the baseball routinely in batting practice from a square stance with a short swing path. Reis stays behind the baseball well and displayed the ability to use all fields.

Corey Ziring, OF, Strath Haven HS, PA (2015)

Ziring ran a 7.50 60-yard dash and showed above average arm strength from the outfield at 84 mph with solid straight line carry to his throws. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound unsigned senior hits from a square stance with a toe tap stride and a flat bat path. Ziring barreled the baseball routinely to all fields in batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 77 mph.
