The 2nd Annual Fall College Prospect Program began yesterday at Seton Hill University. The fall format involves two nine inning games and a showcase at each of three stops over the course of the month of September.
2017 OF Chase Smith (Central) turned in the top offensive performance of the day going 5-for-7 over two games with a double and a triple. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound sophomore showcased a short swing path and the ability to stay inside the baseball with an 84 mph bat exit velocity.
Uncommitted senior RHP Eric Ford (Cambria Heights) and 2016 LHP Dom Coconcelli (Penn-Trafford) shined on the mound. Ford used a fastball that sat 83-85 during his three innings on the mound. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound righty showed good late life and command to his fastball while yielding just two hits. Coconcelli, currently ranked No. 41 in the PA Class of 2016, sat 82-83 while touching 84 mph while striking out four. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound junior did not allow a hit and flashed a sharp breaking 72 mph curveball to go along with his solid fastball command.
2017 C/RHP Casey Winters (Blair County Christian) also displayed a well-rounded skill set. The 5-foot-11, 220-pound sophomore registered a top pop time of 2.00 on throws of 75 mph from the crouch, ran a 7.36 60-yard dash and showcased an 87 mph bat exit velocity. Winters went 2-for-6 at the plate in game action with a triple while topping at 82 mph on the mound.
