A little more than a month remains until PBR Pennsylvania's Elite Prospect Showcase on October 29th at Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim. Today, we begins a series of previews on prospects who will be in attendance, as we highlight Stroudsburg 2018 catcher Emmett McCauley.
The solidly built 5-foot-10, 185-pound backstop impressed this summer at the Western PA College Prospect Showcase. McCauley flashed a clean transition and quick release with 70 mph arm strength out of the crouch (2.06-2.15 pop times).
The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a short lift-and-replace stride. He showcased some length to his swing with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. Stays behind baseball well and displays strength in his lower half with the ability to get to full extension with regularity. McCauley also displayed some present pull-side power with a solid feel for the barrel.
