Just two weeks remains until PBR Pennsylvania's Elite Prospect Showcase on October 29th at Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim. Today, we continue a series of previews on prospects who will be in attendance, as we highlight Red Lion Area 2018 3B/RHP Connor Dewees.
The 5-foot-10, 170-pound right-handed hitter displayed a solid two-way skill set at the Eastern PA Fall Review in September. Dewees stayed balanced and hit against his front side, while showing an ability to stay inside the baseball creating backspin during his BP round. He has pre-pitch rhythm in his stance and his swing has some looseness. While he didn't elevate anything during game action, he routinely barreled the baseball and an 85 mph exit velocity hints at potential gap power. Defensively, he showed solid actions with accurate 82 mph arm strength across the diamond.
Dewees also displayed a compact delivery with clean arm action into a high three-quarter slot on the mound. His fastball was fairly straight at 80-81, while he showed some feel for a big, loopy curveball with 11/5 action at 63-65.
